Preservation Concerns

New Development Concern
512 West Clark Street, Champaign
Update

From the Planning and Development Department:

The proposed Rezoning of 512 W. Clark Street case that was advertised to be heard at the January 19, 2021 City of Champaign Plan Commission has been withdrawn by the owner.

There will not be further action.

Please feel free to share this information with any neighbors you know who were planning on attending the meeting.

Summary

It has been brought to the attention of PACA that a company in Chicago has purchased the property at 512 West Clark and is petitioning for an upzoning of the property.

This may mean they intend to demolish the existing house in order to build a larger, multi-family structure.

The City of Champaign Plan Commission will vote on this petition Wednesday, January 19th.

At this time, City Planners are recommending the Commission deny the rezoning request.

However, to ensure the preservation of the neighborhood, citizens are encouraged to attend the meeting and/or submit their public comment via email.

Please see the attached Related Documents, particularly the Report to the Plan Commission, for more in-depth information.
