Our volunteer opportunities are divided between our four main committees:
Advocacy, Education, Relations, and Finance.

Advocacy
As the area’s leading voice for preservation; PACA seeks to empower the local governments, property owners, corporations, and the community to protect, make use of, and celebrate our heritage.
Volunteer opportunities for the Advocacy Committee may include:
Attending City Council or Commission meetings to support preservation-friendly legislation;
Helping to identify and complete background research on historic preservation concerns, such as endangered buildings;
Cultivating relationships with community members about their preservation concerns and assessing PACA’s ability to help;

Education
We aim to engage our community through educational programming. We will create interest, generate enthusiasm, and raise curiosity about historic preservation through a variety of media and outreach strategies.
Volunteer opportunities for the Education Committee may include:
Assisting at educational events such as workshops, lectures, tours, etc.;
Disseminating preservation information via social media, our website, print handouts, etc.;
Partaking in the planning process for events;

Community

New volunteer recruitment and training;
Planning or assisting at community outreach events;
Cultivating a variety of relationships in the community to further PACA’s mission;

Finance
We aim to diversify and grow revenue through activities and engagement with our membership and community, provide careful stewardship for existing resources, and secure funding from philanthropic partners, government, corporations, and other sources.
Volunteer opportunities for the Finance Committee may include:
Assisting at fundraising events;
Volunteering at the Architectural Salvage Warehouse;
Partaking in deconstruction with the Salvage Team;

Heritage Awards
PACA’s Heritage Awards were established in 1985 to recognize outstanding projects and individuals who have contributed to historic preservation efforts in East Central Illinois.
